1. Copying Firefox profile folder/s

Firefox profile folders can be safely copied provided Firefox is closed.

The 'master' profile folder is located at

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles

The %APPDATA% path is equivalent to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming

A supporting folder is found at %AppData%\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles

2. Restoring Firefox profile folders.

Restoring a Firefox profile involves creating a new default profile using the Firefox profile manager (firefox.exe -p) then overwriting the contents of the new default profile with the profile being restored.  The newly created profile MUST be overwritten to prevent Firefox falling back to creating (yet another) new default profile.
