After Mavericks. Apple have made configuring SMS message forwarding less than intuitive.
Particularly, the authorisation code (pin) which needs to be entered on the sending device (Mac), does not appear automatically, when the forwarding device (iPhone) is enabled.
1. The sending device and forwarding device must be signed into the same appleID account.
2. The sending device and forwarding device should be on the same network during configuration
3. Configure e-mail ID on forwarding device, this is typically the appleID
3.1 On the iPhone, open Settings, Messages, Send and Recieve, Can Be Reached At:
3.2 Verify a check mark (tick) appears next to the e-mail address.
3.3 Verify a check mark (tick) appears nect to the iPhone mobile number
