Synology VPN Server, enable IP forwarding

Synology VPN Server (DSM7)

Symptom

After configuring the Synology VPN Server package a connected VPN client is unable to route IP traffic beyond the NAS itself.

Cause

IP forwarding between the VPN tunnel interface and the physical lan interface is disaled by default

Resolution

Within DSM on the VPN server, navigate to Control Panel/Network/General, click the Advanced Button

Check the option Enable Multiple Gateways is enabled

Within the Network/Advanced dialogue enable Proxy ARP and First Use IPV4 to resolve domain names
