QNAP Factory Defaults

At the time of writing the current version of QNap Turbo NAS OS,  4.0.2 is shipped in a not very secure state, which is capable of sucking up bandwidth.

The OS is shipped with most of the features and gimmicks turned on.

Before proceeding to configure storeage, it is recommended to carefully work through all service and features options disabling them all.

Download station and the UPNP service should be given special attention as it will create aa bit torrent P2P share, allowing hundreds of client to establish sessions through a UPNP enabled firewall.

Disable Services check list

• Network Services / Network Recycle bin

• Network Services / QSync
• Privilege Settings / Shared Folders / Folder aggregation
• Privilege Settings / Users / Home Folder / Enable Home Folder for all users
