Explanation

Error code 0x80041010 indicates a minor corruption within the WMI (WBEM) subsystem.  The most straightforward repair is a re-install of Exchange and Service packs.  However, there are clearly risks to taking such drastic action.

Manual repair is feasible, by re-registering the Exchange .dll files, then re-importing the required namespaces and classes into the WMI repository.  A number of manual repair procedures are offerred by Microsoft and third parties.  The following procedure appears to be the most complete / reliable.

Repair

At a command prompt in the Exchange bin folder, re-register the .dll files

  1. exmgmt.exe /uninstall
  2. exmgmt.exe /install
  3. regsvr32 exwmi.dll
  4. regsvr32 cdowf.dll
  5. regsvr32 cdowfevt.dll

At a command prompt re-import namespaces and classes

  1. mofcomp.exe -class:forceupdate C:\windows\system32\WBEM\exmgmt.mof
  2. mofcomp.exe C:\windows\system32\WBEM\exwmi.mof
  3. mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange C:\windows\system32\wbem\wbemcons.mof
  4. mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange C:\windows\system32\wbem\smtpcons.mof
  5. mofcomp.exe -n:root\cimv2\applications\exchange C:\windows\system32\wbem\msgtrk.mof
Restart the Exchange services
