FT991A Repeater with custom offset

Solution

The FT991A is limited to one pre-programmed 'default' repeater shift per band.

Configuring a channel using the RPT option in the function menu applies the default offset for the band. This is convenient in locales where repeater offsets are standardised use a standard offset. The default offset is applied to the VFO. The default offset is not stored with the channel and so any change is applied to memory channels when they are recalled.

To save a per channel custom shift is the channel is saved with a duplex transmit channel using a two step operation.  Duplex channels are distinctly different from split frequencies set with the Split button.

See menu items 80 through 85

Scenario

Menu item [083 RPT SHIFT 430Mhz] is set to 7600 (7.6Mhz)

Menu item [085 ARS 430Mhz] is set to off (ARS = Automatic Repeater Shift)

VFO A is tuned to 433.350

RPT + is enabled in the function menu

[+] is displayed in the VFO

[>>] is displayed at the top the right of the waterfall scope

433.350 is displayed on the top VFO line, indicating the VFO A receive channel.

440.995 is displayed on the lower VFO line, indicating the VFO B transmit channel.

Keying up causes the 440.95 to be displayed on the top line of the VFO, indicating the transmit shift.

Menu item [83] is selected and the shift is changed to 5000 (5Mhz).

The bottom line of the VFO display changes to 438.350, reflecting the new default shift value.

The programmed channel is saved to memory position 1

[A.M] > (Multi selector) > 01ch > [A.M Long]

Menu item [83] is selected and the default shift changed to 9000 (9Mhz)

Channel mode is selected with [V/M]
